Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh, is a 3 km² rainfed lake, created by Le Corbusier and the Chief Engineer P L Verma in 1958 by damming the Sukhna Choe, a seasonal stream coming down from the Shivalik hills of the Himalayas.
Sukhna is an inseparable part of Chandigarh. The city planners were deeply attached to the lake, so much so that Pierre Jeanneret’s ashes were immersed in the lake in 1970 at his niece’s request. [citation]

The closing ceremony at the only active land border between India and Pakistan is a daily affair, concluded with a synchronized lowering of flags on both sides of the border at sunset. Somehow the Indian side includes a clubbing session in daylight, in the streets, before the soldiers come marching through.

An rare and elusive cultivar of the muskmelon species. Our guide told us this was imported, so I did not bother to try. Had I known then, I would have tried some because this cultivar apparently originates from India and is pretty hard to get elsewhere in the world.

And we’ve never seen such large and fat papayas before, with cube-like proportion.

Local oranges in India, pretty similar to the ones grown locally in Sarawak. Did you know that oranges are mostly not actually orange? Many are airbrushed before packing and shipment.
